Fear of Academic Failure by Jeannine - April 2019 Scholarship Essay

An Academically challenging situation that I’ve encountered Is fear of failing academically. I fear I may never achieve my dreams of earning my degree. I may fail and never become who I’m meant to be. I fear when I look into my future it is completely dark. I fear that somehow the light in my life has been turned off. In my wildest fears I can’t turn them back on. A challenge in my life that has become a significant setback in my life is fear. Fear accompanied with low self- esteem, a poor self-image, and a lack of self-confidence. I have had to learn how to overcome my fears by developing the ability to find the confidence in my-self that I lacked. Today I know I will not fail. I am focused and motivated in creating my own bright future. Today there is light in my life. Today there is a reason to be strong. Today I have a goal. I have the motivation to reach my goals. My road has been long and difficult to walk on. My footsteps did not flow in a constant manner. The road that has lead me to this point in my life has not been easy. What has brought me here to this point in my life has been the most difficult journey of soul-searching and working on the inward parts of myself. I spent endless nights analyzing my self-worth and intrinsic value. Trying to calculate the numbers in my head. Falling short every time. I had to find the courage to put a value on my life. I used to think I was worthless. When I was young I used to scare myself into believing I couldn’t have what it took to succeed in this life, and I believed my fears. Today I know those fears are lies. Those fears are obstacles. I have had to overcome these obstacles. I have done it. I know that what I’ve been thru has shaped me to be prepared for when I am in the healthcare field. I know what I have been thru. I’ll know what to look for if I ever encounter someone who is suffering the way that I had suffered. I’ll know what to do. I will know how to apply it in my career setting. My challenge of overcoming fear that has impacted my life negatively will prepare me to be equipped with the skills necessary and needed in today’s healthcare field. Today I am a different person. Today I am confident in my-self and in my ability to succeed. Today I do love my self which has created a high sense of self-esteem. I know I will achieve my academic and career goals.

Another challenge that I face academically is financial security. I find myself faced with financial hardships and financial struggles. This scholarship can open doors and create new avenues never traveled before for me. The impact this scholarship would have for me would be life altering. This scholarship would change my life. I would be able to achieve my educational goals. I have my educational goals set up like in a volleyball game. This scholarship would allow me to follow thru by achieving my educational goals like in a volleyball game. When one teammate sets the other teammate up so he or she can follow thru on the volley by winning the point for their team. This scholarship would set me up for success in the real world. I would be able to make an impact in the life of others who need my help. When I look into my future I see a big, bright, blue, sky. My talents stretch out across that sky. My dreams, goals, and aspirations reach out as far as the eye can see. There is a saying that states the sky is the limit. There are no limits I want to believe to have the ability to accomplish my dreams. My sky has limits. In the case of this saying the sky above my head is limited. Financial struggles and hardships limit my ability to reach those goals I aspire to achieve. My struggles burn deep down into the core of my being. These financial struggles are a fire in my life that burn up all my dreams. My struggles don’t allow my dreams to come true. This scholarship could ease those financial struggles that I face everyday. This scholarship can make my dreams a reality. I believe I should be selected so that this scholarship can be the hand that guides my hand to unlock and open the doors in my life that have been locked by my personal struggles. I should be selected for this scholarship so that all that I envision for my life can become a reality. This scholarship can and will make all my academic dreams come true. With this scholarship I can and will become the professional I’m meant to be.
