I believe that determination is the key to success, in any situation. College is a very long process and everything is done on your own. You don't have anyone pushing your back or anyone forcing you to go to class. Nobody will be there to take your notes or type your essays. That being said, without being determined, you won't succeed.

A minimum of four years of your life go to college, even more depending on what you plan on pursuing. You have to be extremely motivated to get yourself up every day and go to class. Knowing that you really don't have to do it, you really don't have to take notes or turn in essays. They are unnecessary, but they help you prepare for your future. Those who do not finish college do not have the discipline to get themselves through it.

In my opinion, the excuse "school is not for me" is irrelevant. School is for everyone. However, being independent is not. A lot of people rely on everyone else for their own needs. Whether it is their parents forcing them to go to class or their friends encouraging them to do their work, without having those people as a backbone, their work would not get done.

Those who drop out lose the desire to learn, they have given up on themselves without even thinking of the repercussions. They solve their problems with only temporary solutions without thinking of the permanent outcomes. Determination gives you the extra push that someone is unable to. It drives you in a way that nobody else but yourself can. You shouldn't need to rely on someone else. You shouldn't use the advice of someone who doesn't have to deal with the results.

It is your future, it is your life. Use your own reasoning for motivation. Use your own judgments and make your own calls. If you care enough about something and want it to happen more than anything, you will succeed on your own. You will make anything happen if you are that determined. Setbacks and drawbacks should only make you try harder. Life is nothing without competition and challenge, you need determination to get there.
