Virtual Classrooms; An Optimal Way to Learn by Jaylah - February 2018 Scholarship Essay
I think virtual classrooms would be an integral part of education in twenty years. Now, we can already video chat into some schools, but being able to attend or teach a class from one location and streamline it to others is a crucial development that we have not yet reached.
More than the typical call in, a virtual classroom will allow an almost virtual reality experience. It will be almost as if students around the world are in the same classroom as their teacher. They can not only receive instruction, but they can also ask questions or add to class discussions.
Without the limit on possibilities, students could also take several courses that may not all be taught at the same location. Maybe the college of your dreams does not offer a foreign language class that you want to take. With the virtual classroom, students can create their optimal course load.
Because a system like this would allow students to attend class by only logging in and maybe putting on a headset, anyone could take the class. Students with disabilities that may not be able to attend an actual physical campus or bedridden students who are unable to walk could be just as involved as those who can.
This concept with change the way education is taught and offer many more possibilities that are currently available. It is only a shame that we will no longer be able to take part in this program after its adaptation.
