Roads to Success by Jayla - April 2016 Scholarship Essay

I am currently 21 years old and have gone through challenges at such an early age in life that I feel I can share many experiences and advice with anyone younger, and in some cases older than me.
The main thing I encourage people younger than me is to never loose faith in God. With God all things are possible. You loose site of what he allows in your life and it falls apart. I have fallen short of putting my faith in God, and it was not until I allowed all his love and forgiveness in my life those things started to turn around.
The other thing I encourage is hard work does pay off. I am no stranger to hard work. I have never had a father in my life and my mother was killed while I was in high school. For people without financial help wanting to further their education is a very hard thing to do. There have been times during my college career that I have had to maintain two jobs while going to school full time as a nursing major. There needs to be a lot of determination and a mind set that will get them through anything is what will lead to success.
