Education by Jaxon - October 2019 Scholarship Essay
Education plays a huge role in my life coming from a household with two parent-teachers and my grandpa was also a P.E. teacher. Because of this, having good grades have always been a priority for me. At times, this hasn’t been easy, especially after getting home at 12:00 a.m. from a wrestling match or coming home from a three-hour baseball practice after a 7 hour school day, but that’s the sacrifice I have made to achieve my goals.
I believe that I’m successful because I set goals for myself such as having the best grades and being a leader on my teams. I have made the honor roll every year since junior high and currently, I am a captain of the Othello wrestling and baseball teams. In order for me to reach my full potential as a great student and leader, I try my best in everything I do and never give up to set a good example for others, which is why I wanted to be a part of the unified bowling team. I wanted to make a difference.
Outside of school and sports, I try to put a smile on other people’s faces. During the spring, I dress up as a character named Captain Zero, and I walk through 1st-grade classrooms of Hiawatha Elementary School and count to 100 with all the first graders while answering questions about my flying abilities. Seeing all the smiles on all these kids’ faces made me realize that doing the little things can really bring out happiness and joy.
Coming from a family that only wants the best for me, I seek to make them proud as well as myself, by putting all my effort into school, sports, and other people.
