All Subjects Are Cool But What About Comuter Science? by Jawhar - October 2016 Scholarship Essay

Academics, academics, academics. We all have to learn different types of subject material we feel passionate for. Something that can be so compelling that you were learning that particular subject even before you started school. Let’s think outside the box here and look at subjects that are just as crucial as the others and contain the broader ones within them such as reading, math, science and writing. My favorite subjects are math, history, reading, science (to a certain extent), English and Business. Yet the one subject I would like to teach my students at all levels is computer science. Why you ask? There are numerous reasons plus look around you my friend technology is everywhere!!!!!!

We live in a world where in our present day the use of technology is booming more than ever. All age groups, genders, race (however you want to put it) use some form of technology, whether it be a mobile device, desktop computer, laptop, and tablet. Now as the world moves at a quicker pace and technology evolves, there comes a current problem of two things. The first is that people don’t understand how to code on that piece of technology they’re using. Second, in this present day the job market for a computer programmer, or coding has been consistently small and the need for them is more than ever because, they play a major role not only in your Xbox or PlayStation four video games but as well cyber security in today's age in light of recent events. Now whether we as a whole like it or not, this issue impacts people in nearly all ways of life in a variety of ways. Computer science is integrated within many aspects of business, organizations, and the general population. In addition to its relation with Writing, language, math, English, etc. Point being it is important that people need to understand code, and how it plays a major role in life. Everyone knows that learning at a young age is the best way to understand and develop their skills (I MEAN how do you think we all learned to make it this far in life).

Teaching computer science is nearly essential nowadays. In learning computer science, people need to learn at a young age to understand why it is important to code. Coding is so important that is nearly equivalent to language if not exactly the same. Schools in other countries and states are realizing the shift of technology and the need to educate students in that department. If that’s not enough for you here are a couple reasons why I strongly believe it is worth students time learning computer science and my passion to do so.

Teaching computer science can help students acquire career skills that are applicable to today's job market. Computer science helps develop logic and problem-solving skills. Understanding computer science provides students with better understanding the nature of the world surrounding themselves, and how and why increasing parts of it function as they do. Being able to code enables new avenues for creativity and creative expression. Your free to create and express to your intended audience who will praise you for your unique development. Lastly what I think is more essential to teaching this subject (and I speak for all subjects as well) is Collaboration with others and bring change to the world. we have seen this already with learning different cultures such as language and ways to better jobs and Help those societies that don’t have the best advancements as some do. Look at social media, how you communicate with your family and friends. This is all because of computer science and Innovative people such as myself. I love to tutor people and give great advice but teaching something I know can and will innovate society as a whole is more precious and valued to me.

Yet before you think of more ways for me to persuade. President Obama addresses this topic by saying “Learning these skills isn't just important for your future, it's important for your country's future. Don't just play on your phone, program it” Now when the president makes a statement like that you know that that there is a lot of support ridding behind the movement to tech people to code.
