Managing a Healthy Lifestyle by Jason - August 2018 Scholarship Essay

If I was to have a popular education podcast, my podcast topic would be on what to do’s while being in school. In my podcast, I would talk about ways of improving and keeping a healthy lifestyle. How I would go about describing ways of managing a healthy lifestyle is in exercising, downtime, and eating habits. Now I will demonstrate what I believe a student should do in order to sustain a healthy living during school.
Before being on my own, I was unaware of how to maintain a healthy lifestyle in school. I began to realize that I had to make changes if I wanted to sustain a healthy living. While in college I have learned things that have been huge keys to my success. The first step towards a healthy way of living while in college is to exercise. Before attending college, in high school, I was always active in some after-school sports. In the moments of playing after-school, I was unaware that being active in exercising was the cause of why I had so much energy. After high school, I began to notice that I was not as motivated in school like I once was. I then realized the reason why I had lost my motivation in school; I was dealing with lack of exercising. At the time I could not understand why I would wake up from time to time unmotivated and energyless. Soon after getting back into the gym, I began to see the result I wanted which lead me to gain back the energy I needed.
Furthermore, another way a student can stay healthy while being in school is to stay relaxed throughout their semester. School is never ending stress builder and will need to find the time to relax so they may not have an unhealthy semester. What I found useful in keeping my stress levels low was to manage my school work. As a student procrastinate, later in the semester procrastination may be tough to beat. However, I found keeping an organized class schedule and completing class assignments before their deadline, played a major role in keeping me relaxed. In addition, being around friends is another stress reliever. All students to a degree are going through the same stresses as the next person. Finding people to talk to or simply planning a night out to get away from school is another stress decreaser I found while being in school.
Lastly, another way of keeping up a healthy lifestyle while being in college is to eat right. With a busy school load and other personal responsibilities, I myself understand how easy going out to a fast food area is instead of eating in. Although the process of getting food is easier, eating fast food regularly is the best way of damaging a healthy lifestyle in college. The reason why eating healthy is a good habit to get into is because what a person eats is what a person becomes. If a college student is always eating junk food, best chances is that the student will not be performing to the best of their ability. Eating junk food overall slows a person body down which then cause the student to be unmotivated, energyless, and lazy. If a college student wants to be able to perform at their best, they will need to manage what types of food they eat on a regular basis.
