Purpose fuels motivation by Jasmine - August 2023 Scholarship Essay

From as long as I can remember growing up in a family with of no degrees while I was younger going to school I was never intentional about my grades , behavior and attendance. The only time I would think about life outside of high school was on career days. Having a single mother living off government assistance I never thought about life outside the comfortableness of handouts.However I always knew I wanted to work in the field of mental health for kids suffering like me. This being because I always felt unheard. My motivation had to start with me getting the help I needed first from counselors, family and friends.

With that being said my greatest achievement has to be finding my purpose.My passion to be a psychiatrist has driven me mad now that I’ve let so much time slip away not caring for school. High school has been pretty chaotic for me starting as a freshman during Covid feels like A set up. Sadly enough it wasn’t until 11th grade I knew specifically I wanted to get my masters in psychology and later become a psyche nurse.I can’t wait to aspire the next generations with my testimony Thankyou for this opportunity.
