Why an Entrepreneur class should be included in the school curriculum. by Jared - February 2022 Scholarship Essay

If I had the opportunity to design a new elective class, it would be an entrepreneur class. A lot of students have talents, and skills they are just sitting on. So, with the creation of this class, a successful entrepreneur would teach the students how to sharpen their skills. There would be only a few written tests since the best way to learn is through actual application in this field. This class would show students how to create a side hustle from the things they either love to do or are skilled at. This class will set up these for success in numerous ways as well.
Firstly, the students will build communication skills. Communication is used and will always be used every single second in the future. It is used through music, art, storytelling, and various forms of media. Knowing what to say and how to say it could determine whether someone gets a job, or getting a deal accepted. School is all about preparing students for the future. This class would be a phenomenal way to push students further than usual.
Secondly, the students will learn how to drive traffic to their business. It could be through search engine optimization, advertising, an email list, or social media. Driving traffic is one of the hardest parts of attracting potential customers. Although, with this class, students will learn how to complete this process.
Say the student comes out of this course and does not want to become an entrepreneur. Even if that is the case, the student is going to have real skills that can market to companies or freelance themselves. This skill set would put students above the rest of society looking for job opportunities. I would rather have a head start than have to compete with the majority of the population.
