School Accomplishment I Am Most Proud Of by Janice - December 2016 Scholarship Essay
If I had to pick one school accomplishment that I am most proud of, it would be my ability to maintain a 4.0 grade point average while earning my first college degree.
A couple of months after graduating high school I joined the military, and proudly served my country in the Navy. The Naval core values of honor, courage and commitment were instilled within me then, and twenty years later they are still a strong integral part of my educational and career goals. The Navy has given me the educational benefits that are currently allowing me to change my long lasting aviation career and help me strive towards my new goals of studying in the field of Veterinary Medicine at Louisiana State University.
When I made the decision to change career fields, I gathered up the courage to go back to school and attended Snead State Community College. I was a little nervous at first, but after getting an “A” on my first exam, since high school eighteen years ago, it inspired me to keep moving forward. My first semester I earned a 4.0 grade point average and was inducted into the local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. I then made great efforts to achieve the same results every semester until I graduated. I was able to earn my Associates in Science degree with a major in Animal Health and Dairy Science in less than two years and graduate with the highest honors of being on the presidentʼs list and summa cum laude.
