The Aspect Of My Education I Am Most Thankful For by Janez - November 2020 Scholarship Essay

I am thankful not only for my family and personal friends, but also for my school family. Education so far has been a large portion of my entire life and I value it as a process of expansion and conversion not in the sense of converting or turning students into doctors or engineers, but the widening of the mind from which emerges the creation, sustenance, and development of self-critical awareness and independence of thought.

The years in school gave me knowledge and developed in me a perspective of looking at life. They helped me form opinions and develop my own point of view. Often they are the catalyst for converting information into knowledge which made me capable of interpreting things correctly and applying the information to real-life scenarios.

I hope that my education will eventually lead to a satisfying career for I will be weighed in the market on the basis of my educational skills and on how well I can apply them. Good education is an eligibility criterion for employment in any sector of the industry. Expertise in a specific field opens doors to career opportunities and I am willing to work hard for my goals.

Most thankful though I am for the fact that education builds character because it teaches us the right behavior and good manners, which make people act civilized. Moreover it builds character and cultivates us into mature individuals. Additionally education is giving students an insight into living and as a result teaching young people to learn from experience. It makes us self-confident and develops our abilities to think, analyze, and judge. Also it fosters principles of equality and socialism and forms a support system to excel in life.

For hundreds of years now education has led to enlightenment because it helped create a clear picture of things around, and erased all the confusion. At the same time it kindled the flame of curiosity, and helped awaken the abilities to question and to reason. While education paved the path to disillusionment, it wiped out the wrong beliefs from our minds.

Education will always help a nation progress because a country’s literate population is its asset. For the progress of a nation and for the enrichment of society in general, education is quite important. Most government-aided educational programs and government grants to schools and colleges aim at fostering education in society. Therefore the future of a nation is safe in the hands of the educated.

In consequence education is important for the social development and the economic growth of a people and equally important is to know that learning is a lifelong process even when institutional education ends. The process of learning continues throughout one’s life.
