Reachimg For Stars by Janae - June 2017 Scholarship Essay
As a child I would look up into the sky and dream of all the amazing and unknown things that are happening in the universe. I wanted to be a Astronaut and discover what happens in the universe. I wanted to answer all the weird and unique questions about space. Such as what is beyond Pluto. It always amazed me that once you enter space it becomes a new world where gravity become obsolete and the stars where still to far away to touch. Knowing that my mind was about to go on the adventure of a life time I realized being patient, determination, and putting hard work in to reach my goal would pay off. So I buckle my seat belt down began to study harder ending up in the top ten percent in my class.
I feel that astronauts have to be well rounded doing multiple jobs at once including keeping their sanity. Expanding my knowledge in science, technology, and math showed me that it was not going to be easy but I was going to make it through. Taking advance math and science classes opened my eye to the fact that I can do anything in the filed including build the systems used to make it possible. Through taking this classes my understand of what it means to be a astronaut grow I was just not trying to go to space anymore I was trying to find one of the many secrets about space.
Overall from the age six to eighteen my dream continues to show me that you can not give up on what you want because the moment you do that you have lost the game. My knowledge of what it means to be determined is to keep my eyes on my star player myself. My six year old self dreamed of becoming an astronaut and with that dream she developed a drive that will not give up, a passion for discovering the unknown, and a exciting trill for adventure.
