Everybody Loves Her by Jamie - June 2014 Scholarship Essay
I would write a book depicting the various events and trials of dating life. Let's be honest; it's all downright hilarious! Nothing ever goes according to plan and sometimes people aren't really who they seem at all when you first meet them.
You'll join the female heroine's journey through the dating life. Some experiences will melt your heart and others will show how cruel at times the world can be. The journey starts with the simplest of proms and continues on with the ultimate quest to find the guy perfect for her. The book will include a section on what not to do, date ideas, and fun ways to ask another out for a date.
For a twist I've decided not to name the main character leaving it up to interpretation. It could be you, your friend, anyone. It doesn't matter that she isn't named because her experiences are what make her come to life.
This dense girl has been her own prince charming for far too long, but has found that being backwards might not be such a bad thing. With a life that rivals soap operas, every date is an adventure! The secret to why she never quite gives up is that she runs into a few good men finding hope for humanity and her dating life. Although no one is perfect, including herself, she's not about to settle for mediocrity. After being mistreated she takes a boy's harsh words and determines that if this is the best the world has to offer, then she'll die alone.
I would choose to write this story for everyone, including myself, to enjoy. But the goal isn't to just entertain, but to teach a lesson. That no matter our circumstances or what happens in our lives we can choose to be happy.
