The Honors College by Jamar - August 2023 Scholarship Essay

Greetings! I am Jamar Wallace II, currently embarking on my second year of pursuing a degree in physics. My goal is to become an astrophysicist, and I am working towards a Bachelor of Science in physics with a potential PhD down the line. Although my collegiate career has been short, I have been fortunate enough to accomplish some academic feats already, such as making the Spring 2023 Dean's List. However, the most significant achievement for me was being accepted into the Honors College at Florida International University (FIU).
Being admitted into the Honors College has been one of my most illustrious academic achievements thus far. Being part of this college gives me access to amazing resources that will help me excel both personally and academically. One such resource is the Advanced Research and Creativity in Honors (ARCH) program, which lets me participate in supervised research and creative projects in any subject field with the guidance of FIU faculty experts. My passion for astrophysics lies in understanding the intricacies of planets, galaxies, nebulae, black holes, and everything else floating around in space. These objects have a direct impact on our evolution, making it crucial for astrophysicists to stay up to date on the latest research techniques, theories, and advances in technology. Hence, the Honors College and its ARCH program would play a crucial role in shaping my future career.
