Traveling through Food by Jalynn - March 2025 Scholarship Essay
When I imagine where I see myself 10 years from now I envision a multitude of things. I see myself settling down and having my own successful bakery in a nice city. I also see myself traveling around the world trying the foods and learning the cultures from different countries. I see a lot of different futures in store for me but the one thing for sure is that where I am in the future it will revolve around food, especially desserts. I am a baker and have been for as long as I can remember. Which is why I am majoring in Food & Beverage Entrepreneurship going the baking path. Doing this major will aid me in having my own bakery in the future as it's currently teaching me a lot of techniques and skills I don't know that will be useful for me in the future. My major also helps me with building more connections with people in my chosen career field by giving me the opportunity to work with a lot of different chefs who all know different skills to teach as well as lessons to learn. While studying my major I also plan to take advantage of internships and study abroad to get more experience in the kitchen outside of the classroom as a way to learn how it feels to operate in an actual kitchen working together with other people. This not only gives me real life experience before I try to run my own business but also gives me people I can network with as a way to gain an advantage when first starting out.
