You never know by Jakub - March 2019 Scholarship Essay
School at first was not my first priority, then I realized I need to better myself. I never really had influence to do good in school. Only 2 of my siblings graduated high school, so that was my biggest goal as a kid. My mom was always working while I was a kid so I did not see her much. My dad would also work, but in the morning. As a kid i did not really ask my dad for school advice, he was not a really big school person.
The only person who really cared on how I was doing or what i was doing, was my mom. Even though my mom was a very busy woman, she would always ask me if I needed any help in school. I would always tell her no because I don’t want her to stress about another thing, with already all that on her plate. I would always say I’m doing good or if I was struggling I wouldn’t tell her, I would just ask the teacher or someone at school. I realized that my mom was going through all this stress and hard work just so it could benefit me when I am older. I wanted to return the favor to my mom, when she is older I want her to be able relax and not stress as much. I realized school is a big factor in trying to do that. With school I can get a degree and it will help me get a job and start my career.
My career will reflect on how well I do in school. If I do well in school I will have better opportunity in life and more chances to succeed. I want to succeed in life so I can make my mom proud show her what she put all that work into for. I will show her all that hard work and dedication did not go to waste. My goal is be able to support for my mom and she will not have to work anymore.
