Not only have I contemplated what my senior yearbook quote would be, but I have already decided on one that authentically speaks about me. The quote is from Christian singer and songwriter Morgan Harper Nichols and it states that “no matter what does or does not happen, you will learn and grow either way.” Morgan Harper Nichols’ quote symbolizes the challenges and successes that I face each day, and how I flourish from them.
The phrase begins with saying: “no matter what does or does not happen.” In everything that I do, whether that be school, work, or extracurriculars, I ensure that I am putting forth my utmost effort and working as hard as I can to be successful. Because of the hard work that I emanate, I am blessed to obtain many success’. However, I have also encountered many failures. Many situations have occured for me, especially in high school, where something does not happen the way that I anticipated. An example may be not receiving a sufficient grade on a test that I studied hard for, or losing the election for a position I was eager to hold in a club or organization. The first part of the quote ensures that events will happen with outcomes that we wish for, but sometimes the result that we strive for does not happen. Through these successes and failures, events that happen or do not happen, knowledge and strength are gained that allow us to thrive in the future.
Following the independent clause, Morgan Harper Nichols continues to say that no matter the outcome, there will be knowledge and growth gained either way. I have been taught by my parents and grandparents my entire life to find a positive in every unfavorable occurrence in life. In a favorable outcome, it is easy to identify what I learned and how I have been able to grow from it. Usually knowledge and growth are gained while working toward and achieving success. It can be difficult for people to pick out the growth and knowledge they have gained through their defeats. For me, I find it fulfilling to reflect on the situations that did not have a the result I was hoping for. I evaluate the ways that my knowledge has expanded through the process and how I will strengthen myself for my next hurdle. Because of this, it has been easy for me to build up from any downfall and create a strong mentality within myself.
This quote discusses the way that I unveil positivity in everything - even during loss. Having a hard work ethic, dedication, and drive in everything makes it hard to notice success during a defeat. A piece of hard work ethic, dedication, and drive includes reflection on the past and how to flourish in and from it despite the outcome. “No matter what does or does not happen, you will learn and grow either way” says that I am strong minded and have a strenuous will for knowledge and growth through everything.
