Qualities to win the Nobel Prize by Jada - December 2018 Scholarship Essay

If I were apart of the committee that issued the Nobel Prize, two qualities that I believe a recipient should have are a strong work ethic and someone who possess strong leadership. I chose having a strong work ethic as one of the qualities because, I believe that if someone shows that they have great work ethic than you can expect nothing but excellence from them which can be seen in their work. I also believe that having a keen sense of leadership or being a leader comes into play also because it shows initiative in the work, people who are set around these kind of people push for nothing but the best, as well as taking charge into the situation.
Furthermore, to obtain the Nobel Prize one must have extensive knowledge on how their work could potentially change how we view things in the future. Eric Thomas a well-known motivational speaker once said, “ All roads that lead to success have to pass through hard work boulevard at some point”. If we take a look at this quote Eric is telling us that nothing comes easy to people who do not work for what they want. The definition of work ethic is the belief that hard work and diligence have a moral benefit and an inherent ability, virtue or value to strengthen character and individual abilities. Having a strong work ethic can lead to potentially winning the Nobel Prize because, the way you think and view things are so abstract and different that it requires you to put your time and effort into it so that it comes out on top.
Secondly, the word leadership stems from the word leader if you cannot be a leader then how can you show your sense of leadership. I believe that a good leader is one who goes above and beyond the criteria in every kind of way, which makes them the perfect candidate for the Nobel Prize. If we look into the meaning of the word leadership we can see that it is a process by which a person influences others to accomplish an objective and directs the organization in a way that makes it more coherent and cohesive. Jim Rohn once stated, “Leadership is the challenge to be something more than average.” Maintaining this mindset is what I believe grants you a spot in winning something so big such as a Nobel Prize.
In conclusion, maintaining a strong work ethic and portraying strong leadership skills can lead to many great achievements. Not only does it show your drive and desire, but it shows what you truly believe in and how you choose to go about it.
