Every day when I drive home from school, my mom is on her computer, working on a new project for her job, or talking in virtual meetings. Every time I wake up, I leave my room, shower, and walk out to the same image. Always on her computer. From when she wakes up until she sleeps. It’s considered a good job by most, but judging by the toll that it takes on her, it doesn’t seem very desirable. She doesn’t work these tough hours for herself, but to have enough money for her 3 children.
The major that I’m choosing is Business Administration, Entrepreneurship. I want to be completely self-reliant, make my own hours, and have time if I choose. I’m terrified to fall into the same trap that she has. I want to have the option to work from anywhere, any time, and choose who I work with. I want the opportunity to make choices, and not be confined to what others say. I want my success to be completely reliant on how hard I work, not a fixed number. I want my children to be proud of me, and have the time for them to be able to say that to me.
