School can be a long treacherous journey with many obstacles. Sometimes you need people that can help guide you through this journey, and the person that helped me the most through school was my mom.
She impacted my education in a positive way by lending a helping hand, whether it was giving me tips to help calm me down when I was stressed, or if I genuinely did not know how to solve a problem in math, she would help break down the problem and show me how to solve it.
Another example would be when I was struggling in English in 7th grade. I did not understand the course material and my teacher was not helping me succeed. I looked to my mom for help, and she told me to go to tutoring for the things I did not understand and go until I understood the material. I went to tutoring often, and this helped me a lot as my grades improved quite a bit in the class. Since this was early on in middle school, tutoring was a new thing for me and my classmates; going to tutoring showed me that there was always going to be extra help if I needed aid in understanding the course material.
My mom helped me understand that there is always going to be extra help and she would even go out of her way to help me with schoolwork and guide me towards extra help. She positively impacted my education more than any of my peers would and I will take her advice for the rest of my life.
