My Main Goal Is A GPA of 3.0 by Jacob Carter by Jacob - August 2022 Scholarship Essay
My main goal for this school year is to get at least a GPA of 3.0. This GPA number is incredibly useful for a variety of reasons. The main reasons are having more scholarship opportunities and I can apply to more colleges.
First, this is the most important reason for me and that is being able to qualify for more scholarships. Many scholarships I cannot apply because my GPA is below a 3.0, however once I get a 3.0, I can qualify and apply for them. In my state of Florida our biggest scholarship that can cover anyone is Bright Futures. This scholarship is a state program where if you have at least 75 volunteer hours, have a GPA of at least 3.0, and get a 1330 on the SAT then you get a 75% scholarship. This 75% scholarship covers tuition, fees, and books. So, it is imperative that I get a GPA of at least 3.0 to save myself a lot of time and money.
Second, I can apply to more colleges. Now, I am going to community college first to save money with it being at least half as much as the in-state university, and I would be getting the same education for the first 2 years. So, I might as well go to community college first, but once I get my AA degree, then having a GPA of a 3.0 in high school would look more appealing for me to apply to in-state universities.
In the end, raising my GPA to a 3.0 is very practical to do to save myself time and money in the long run. The GPA of a 3.0 makes me more appealing to scholarships and post-secondary education institutions. I have gotten all this information from friends, family, and teachers.
