Professor Johnson by Jaclyn - August 2017 Scholarship Essay
If I were a professor, I would teach an art class that was based mostly upon drawing, painting, and working with clay. Out of all the things I am passionate about, art by far is one of the top items on the list. To be a professor, it is important that one is passionate about the subject they are teaching. To teach art, however, it is necessary to have an open mind and the ability to see not only through others eyes, but also all the different time of expression there is. In today’s society so many people feel the need to be closed off, hide their feelings and hold everything in, but art is a way to get that out; So it is extremely important when teaching art that one realizes all the many types of art people choose to use in their works such as futurism, surrealism, minimalism, and the list goes on and on.
If I were an art professor I would make sure all of my students felt comfortable in the work they were doing, as well as making sure they stepped outside their comfort zone a bit every once in awhile, because it’s so noteworthy when even just one person takes a leap of faith and finds himself or herself in love with an art form, and able to let their innermost thoughts out.
