10 Years Later, 10 Years Better by Jackson - March 2025 Scholarship Essay

Hello, my name is Jackson Smiley. I am an 18 year old senior in high school!

Now, in order to properly analyse where I will be 10 years from now, where I was 10 years ago must be taken into account. 10 years ago (when I was 8), I was a straight A student. I always helped my friends in and out of the classroom. Despite being a spunky kid that desired the best in everyone, I always lacked one characteristic - diligence. I often would procrastinate on assignments, prioritizing having fun over fulfilling my responsibilities.

10 years from then, however, I have changed drastically! I have been able to crack down on my daily affairs, which has led me to being #12 in my high school class of around 270 students. Though I still struggle from time to time, I strive everyday to be better than I was the day before.

Because of these qualities I have developed over time, I believe that in 10 years from now I will be an even better version of myself now. I see myself thriving in the field of education, inspiring young hearts and minds and helping them develop the desire to learn. Having the privilege of a higher education will help me in a significant manner, as it will propel me to newer heights in my endeavors of impacting the next generation of learners. Being blessed with this scholarship will grant me the opportunity to further pursue my education, which will ultimately lead me to creating change in the world!
