Education by Jackson - October 2016 Scholarship Essay
I am in my last and undoubtedly the most stressful year of high school. There are so many decisions that fight for space in my head. What little free time I have, is spent researching school admission requirements, tuition costs, as well as writing college essays. However, through this taxing time, I keep reminding myself how much I love working with young children as a camp counselor and Girl Scout troop leader. The expectations of me by my teachers to think and learn at a higher level made college possible for me. My teachers' commitment to learning has inspired me to help opened doors that might be closed for other children without proper support. My history, geography, and language teachers have shown me the world outside my community. My English teachers remind me on a daily basis why I love literature so much. My science teachers encourage me to look at my world beyond what my eyes can see. My math teachers have taught me that it is okay when my best isn't always at 100%. My music teachers have fueled a small passion for fine arts into a lifelong love.
All of my teachers and the opportunities I have had to work with young children have created a desire in me to follow in their footsteps to teach. Receiving this scholarship would be a contribution not only in my life but, through my future teaching career, a contribution to the lives of generations of students to come
