Biggest Failure In My Education Career by Isiah - July 2023 Scholarship Essay
The biggest failure during my education is not finishing my AA degree while I was in high school.
While I was in high school, I had the opportunity to do the dual enrollment program. This program made it possible for high school students to actually take college classes and work towards receiving their AA before leaving high school. The benefits of receiving your AA before leaving high school are that students would finish high school with a higher than average GPA, high school seniors would enter into college as a junior instead of a freshman, it saves 4 semester's worth of money from a 4-year school, and you would have a high school and college degree before stepping foot on a college campus.
The failure in not going for my AA is actually regret in not starting the program early on in high school. The reason is that I started the program late. I only had the ability to finish upwards to 1.5 years worth of college courses in high school instead of 2 years. Also, the classes I took did not go towards my core classes. I took classes that interested me at the time, which inevitably did not coincide with my major now. I did go into college with 45 college credits but they were more elective classes rather than core classes. This means I still had to take core classes in my first few years on a college campus instead of taking classes directed to my major. If I took the main core classes in high school, I would have been able to graduate in either spring 2023 or fall 2023.
This helped me become better prepared for constructing my class schedule and more aware about what classes I need in order to graduate. The reason is that I started to realize that some of the classes I took in high school were worthless and I will never connect with any major I follow.
