All too often in our busy lives, we forget humanity; we forget other people. It is so simple to get caught up in life and forget. Political science and economics have always been something that sparked my interest. The way we work and organize ourselves in a political setting, but even more simply in an authoritative position in general. It is important to remember those around you as people with homes and lives rather than numbers on a massive spreadsheet.
In economics and political science, we forget each other all too frequently. The course I have chosen to take over the next few years will go into the statistics and fundamentals to take a career in politics and economics and also most importantly, the real humanity behind it all. My professors explore not only how we work but why. We learn to understand and see the other person so that we might better each other. Our duty as students and human beings is to better ourselves and our homes and communities.
I want to take this course to help those around me by relearning what we have forgotten in everyday life. I want to be able to apply my major to all aspects of life. To be able to recognize those around me will not only help me become better but will also provide me with an excellent opportunity to help those in need.
