Eyes on the Prize - Educators are Everyday Heroes by Isabelle - November 2020 Scholarship Essay

Teachers are more than just a face, they are heroes. Instead of a fancy sword or laser eyes, they hold pencils, and rather than using violence to solve problems, they use arithmetic. Due to my financial situation, I never thought that I could attend a post-secondary institution, but due to the reassuring words and help from dozens of teachers around me, it's never been closer to reach. Education has given me the chance to make connections with people that are willing to help me pursue my dream of receiving a college education.

Aside from exams, science labs, lengthy curriculums, teachers are an asset that has taught me that no dream is too ridiculous. These mentors have guided me toward a higher future and have given me the tools to become a successful young woman. Teachers have shaped me into the person that I am by pushing me beyond the classroom. They remind me that life is not as easy as last night studying- that to be a successful person, I must put one hundred percent of my heart toward my dreams if I want them to become a reality.

These educators have to lead me down the path of prosperity due to teaching me the importance of self-respect, dedication, and goals. If I learned one thing throughout my education, it is that you need to push yourself if you want something. As my middle school geology teacher once said, keep your eyes on the prize", a lifelong lesson that took twelve years of schooling to fully understand.
