Home to College by Isabelle - August 2020 Scholarship Essay

My dream college would be my second home. It would be a place I love not just for its beauty, but for the way it makes me feel.
I want to feel accepted by all those around me—despite my faults—and I want to accept others as well, enjoying the diversity the university offers. I want to be able to meet new people and learn from them, allowing me to expand my own interests and knowledge. A welcoming air surrounds the place, nurturing students’ desires to try new things.
I want to feel supported by others, making this college a place where I can grow and thrive. Professors would provide constant encouragement and assistance, and failure would not break their confidence in me. The same with my peers. We would be in it together, a sense of community and trust to help learn from each other and push through our difficult studies.
I want to feel challenged. This college will push me to be my best and to always give it my all. I want to reach my full potential and to accomplish more than I thought possible. New parts of my mind will be unlocked.
I want to feel prepared for life outside of this university. Through my experiences here, I want to know how to take on whatever life throws at me. I want to learn perseverance and dedication. A feeling of confidence and security will follow me once I graduate.
My dream college would be somewhere I never want to leave, but when I do, I know I would always have a place in it.
