A Better Understanding by Isabella - July 2019 Scholarship Essay

Education has grown tremendously since its creation in the seventeenth century. By mentioning this, I wish to emphasize our ancestors desire for our expansion of knowledge and intelligence. Therefore, I firmly believe that having a passion for education means our desire for greater knowledge about ourselves, our past, as well as our future.
Since the 1600s, mankind has expressed their desires for seeking out more information about physical Earth, thus the creation and evolving of school has continued. If our ancestors chose to establish an educational system, then why do we continue it? We continue the system, because of our passion for education.
Earlier on, I used to have the common thought of “why must we attend school?” I felt this way, because like most children, I would have preferred to play with toys, rather than wake before the sun rises to attend school for 8+ hours a day. However, since then, I realize just how important education really is. My realization and understanding of the significance of schooling is why I have a passion for education. That is why I promote others to do their best in school and this is also why I go above and beyond in my education, in order to make an impact on others. If our predecessors created the education system so long ago, with their likeminded desires for our benefit in society, then I believe it is our duty to preserve and continue it.
Personally, I feel that having a passion for education means far more than going to school because “we have to”. I feel that it is a way to express our respect for our ancestors and portray our desire for more knowledge about our history and theirs. Also, by having a passion for education, we convey to the future our craving to better their lives as well, by expanding the schooling system and strengthening our need to attend and be successful in our education.
