Hopes and Dreams of College by Isabella - November 2016 Scholarship Essay
Many people go into college thinking they are just going to party and pass classes, later realizing they cannot. College is a place to learn who you are, what you want to excel in, and so much more: however it comes with a lot of responsibilities. During these 4, more or less, years you will experience major things and overcome several obstacles. The experience in college I will be thankful for is being able to grow as a person, and learn to live on my own, but still be around people I love and care about.
Ultimately, I think growing as a person is a experience I would be thankful for because, not all people get to grow and learn at the same time. Many people are in families who cannot afford college, so being able to attend college and grow is an amazing opportunity. Right now I am a Senior at Tulare Union High School, involved in ASB, Senior Class, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), a four year varsity track runner, and a four year varsity soccer player. I am used to the struggles of staying up late because of how late a practice got out and my homework was not finished yet, but being able to go into a college and fix that weakness and master so many school skills and life skills will benefit me so much.
One of the many things a senior in high school says is " I cannot wait to get out of here" or " I cannot wait to live on my own and be free", but many do not know the consequences that come with those desires. They just want to leave their town and start a new life, not caring along the way. Personally, I want to learn to live on my own, or at least learn how to, but I want the help of my friends and family as well. Being surrounded by people who went or are going through exactly what you are can be beneficial in so many ways.
