Early to Bed, Early to Rise by Isaac - January 2019 Scholarship Essay
I am definitely a morning person. I have always believed that to stay healthy requires a routine of going to bed early and waking up early. In the early hours of the day is when my mind is fresh, open to new ideas and more ready to solve tasks that are ahead of me. When I sleep in, not only do I end up feeling like I have just wasted my part of my day, it leaves me with a sense of guilt that I could have been doing something productive during that time. Sleep is a good thing and it is needed, however, when we choose to sleep to is very important to how we function every day.
Every day I can start fresh, have a clean slate. I don't have recent events on my mind because my day has just started. I wake up, thank God for giving me another wonderful day and ask Him to help me make this day my best day. Every day can be my best day, it can always be better than the days before. I find myself motivated to finish tasks before the day is too far spent so I can have a clear conscience while I relax in the evening satisfied with the work that I’ve accomplished that day.
In the evening I choose to reflect on the day that I have just gone through. Some evenings the events of the day envelop me and I can't escape them. I have to pick through them until I am satisfied. I need to figure out and make a plan for the thing that I need to do tomorrow. It’s difficult for me to complete tasks and I find myself in need to relax from the days work. I can relax knowing that I did everything I could that day.
A wise man once said, ‘Early to be, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.’ I plan to follow that counsel and hope to be all of those things someday.
