Keep Trying and by Insaf - December 2018 Scholarship Essay
Let's say that I am on the committee to select just the right person to award the Nobel Prize. What factors do I need to consider to make the right selection? What qualities do I need to look for?
If I was given the honor of selecting someone to win the prestigious Nobel Prize, one of the qualities I would look for is persistence. Those who don't give up no matter what. They get kicked to the ground and get right back up before you know it. A person that can endure the toughest of setbacks and still break through them. People that have persistence can do anything. Persistence gave humans electricity, medicine, and technology. All those things took a lot of hard work and required people to jump over or conquer obstacles. Persistence needs someone who is tough enough to achieve their goals and obtain their dreams and desires.
Another necessary quality the recipient must possess is open-mindedness. The world is constantly changing so fast. In the blink of an eye, one thing could completely change and become another. For this reason, the award winner should have a very open mind. An open mind can adapt to any changes thrown its way. Being able to change your views and opinions based on the circumstances is critical in the world we live in. Sticking to one thing that may have been right before, could become problematic when it changes in the future.
The Nobel Prize is not something to be taken lightly. It requires the best of the best. In my opinion, the best of the best possess two qualities, persistence and open-mindedness. Without these two qualities, the world would never be as advanced as it is now.
