In 10 years by Ingrid - March 2025 Scholarship Essay

I have always worked hard for myself, and for my children. I would continue to expand that for the students I am destined to teach. I have not always had the same opportunities as others, but I have always been determined in how I approach them.

In 10 years, I will still be educating; I could never see myself anywhere else. I may not be educating Preschool aged children anymore, but I will be settled into my groove with my Elementary aged classroom. A classroom that houses the same little dreamers I once taught in a different setting. They may no longer dream of becoming a majestic unicorn or a high-speed underwater dog, but the dreams are just as big and bright. I will be nurturing and growing those dreams with empathy, compassion, patience, love and structure.

For me to reach my goal with deeper understanding of education, purpose, practice and its abilities to impact and shape the lives of the students I teach, my education will have been the groundwork. Equipped with only an idea, lack of experience and a hope for my future I was gracefully given an opportunity to learn how to provide children with an education that they deserve starting from infancy. For this woman who took a chance on me based on a gut feeling and belief, I will be eternally grateful; little did she know, she would be changing my entire life.

Ten years from now, I will continue living my dream of a passion career but with deeper knowledge that I can both pass along to my students via teaching them inside my classroom. Passing along this same experience and knowledge professionally as I develop and blossom into the educator, I aspire to be via being a forever student of evolving education.
