How To Increase the Beauty of Our World by Iliana - February 2018 Scholarship Essay
This world is known for violence, war, and competition that is progressively increasing, but I think the world is beautiful, and the people have taken advantage of this beauty. There are several ways to make this world its best form, just like how it was in the beginning. These include limiting human contact with wildlife and nature, being your kindest self, treating animals humanely, and making money irrelevant.
By limiting human contact with wildlife and nature, this would help conserve species of not only animals but also plants. In an ideal world, with everlasting beauty, there would be no hunting, no pollution, and humane living conditions for animals. If we did not hunt animals, this would help prevent extinction, and also let natural selection have a more prominent role in nature. I believe certain animals were meant to be eaten, but not hunted down, this creates artificial selection, and hunting has been proven to decrease and even get rid of a whole species. On the topic of natural selection, I think humans are too involved in wildlife, and there is too much artificial selection, and not enough natural selection. Therefore, I believe the world will be beautiful if us humans, leave a certain amount of space, and certain islands untouched for wildlife conservation. By creating cities in the middle of forests, and building on animals homes, it intrudes on the animals homes. This forces the animals to relocate, and find new communities while killing the plants. I think we should still have buildings and cities, but keep the wildlife in mind by relocating them ourselves before we tear down their homes. This may seem like a hassle, but I think it is best to do everything we can to keep this world beautiful. Along with relocating the animals and limiting the amount of land we build on, there are consequences to building, tearing down, and going on with our everyday lives. Driving, having fires, and sending any foreign air into the atmosphere has effects on our planet.
According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, over the past two years, the carbon monoxide levels have strayed away from the EPA air quality standards. The amount of pollution and toxins that humans put in the air is ridiculous and is affecting the beauty of this planet. If we decrease the number of toxins in the air by reducing our amount of trash, recycling, and thinking about the planet and how our everyday lives will affect this planet, then we can have at least a small positive impact on the environment.
Not only should the world focus on the planet to become more beautiful, but it should also focus on the people. If there is one thing that will bring all humans together, it is knowing that we are all loved and are all related to each other in some way. I think that if we all agreed on loving each other the same way we want to be loved, we will be kinder to one another. In the perfect world, the nations would not rage at each other, but instead, care about one another, and work together to make this the most beautiful planet. I believe this can be done through music, building communities, smiling, sharing, and thinking of everyone as equals. By focusing on the people, there would be no person who is higher than another or one nation that is better than the other. One big issue today in society is competing with other nations, but when will this violence stop, especially when there is children, poverty and famine, and diseases to worry about. It seems as if the world is too concerned about money, and focuses too much on itself.
Money is a privilege to people, and to some, it is scarce, but to others, it is a part of their lives. This leaves different levels of “class” and unequal amounts of opportunities. In reality, almost nothing is free, and in order for people to be successful and have a degree in a certain topic, they have to use the money. Money is very helpful in life, but that is because that is the way we shaped trade to be; in exchange for something, someone must pay, and that is the way it has always been, whether it be money, favors, animals, etc. I think that to make the world a beautiful place, we must get rid of the idea that money has importance in our lives. Money will not be able to determine a person's advantages or their living style. In the perfect world, money will have no value and happiness will come effortlessly. By giving every person an equal amount of opportunities, this will make the world beautiful because everyone will be treated the same.
The world has such great potential for being the most beautiful planet, but this is only if all of the people are willing to work together and embrace their dissimilarities. In the most beautiful and perfect world, there will be no judgment, skin color will not matter, your amount of money will not matter, the animals will be treated humanely, and the environment along with its nature will be conserved.
