My 10-year Career Plan by Idalia - March 2020 Scholarship Essay

Where will I be in 10 years? I hope I make it to the age of 29 with a family, house, and kids with my current boyfriend of 3 years, to say the least. I have had some trouble deciding what career job I want to do for the rest of my life and being content with it. Since I've been in college, I decided on my second term that I wanna pursue a job in Accounting. It's a stable industry with lots of room to grow. There's quite a bit of math but I'm not so worried because I'm good with numbers and my mother is as well which has helped me over the last few years. I have a long journey ahead of me as I am attempting to pursuing a bachelor's degree in Accounting.

Portland State University is definitely in my plan. I am the second in my family to go to college and unfortunately, the first family member dropped out after a year. This has been my first year in college and let me tell you it is not easy, at least not for me. I currently work two jobs and do my best to catch enough sleep to make it to class and do my classwork. Although it's tough I am determined to finish school. My current business teacher said that PSU has a great Accounting program which is perfect for me! I hope to find the best company to work with once I complete my bachelor's degree.

Traveling has always been a goal of mine. I don't have a list of which places to visit first but whatever opportunity I have first. I'm the type to travel in my own state and be amazed by places I haven't been to or quiet places with a beautiful view. I'm easily impressed which excites me a ton more to travel. Overall, in 10 years I hope to simply have a good job and a family, nothing too crazy. For now, let's hope this coronavirus lets me get there.
