Organized? I think not... by Ian - January 2016 Scholarship Essay
With all the things that came and went with this past New Year’s, one of the biggest was my new year’s resolution list. The list wasn’t extremely long but the resolutions on it were meaningful. Along with several others, one of the most important ones was to learn to stay more organized.
Throughout my life I have always been a very artistic person. I love to draw and paint in my free time and have even begun work as a freelance photographer. Though my favorite form of art definitely has to be animation which is what I have decided to pursue in college as carrier. I have always been told that people with more of an artistic personality are always more clustered because they rush to put down information before losing it. This has always been an issue with me. My room is always cluttered whether or not it is my latest project or simply unfolded clothes and sadly this horrible habit has even carried itself into my school work.
I have always been a relatively good student, receiving majority Bs and As with a few Cs. The biggest cause of this is the fact that I am ridiculously disorganized with my school work. I find it funny because before every semester of school my mother, who is a teacher herself, would always be sure to buy me nice binders and folders along with paper and pages dividers to keep organized. Sadly they are hardly ever used. I never take the time whether in or out of class to organize my folders. Because of this I am constantly losing projects, worksheets, take home quizzes, etc. And I couldn’t tell you how many projects and sheets have been lost in the depths of my cluttered vortex of a backpack.
So this year I have put down the resolution that I will try my hardest to be more organized. I have been working hard on it so far and it seems to be working out pretty well but it will be better judged closer to half way in the semester. Hopefully trying so hard to stay organized will pay off by helping to improve my grades and my room.
