Me? A college professor? by Hydia - August 2017 Scholarship Essay

If I was a college professor, I would most likely teach African American Literature. I would teach African American Literature because I love my race so much and I would want students to understand why we are so unique. I would enjoy talking about where we came from, how we became who we are today, and what we are evolving into. I feel like our race is under appreciated because of all the bad stuff that's pointed out over the good. I would help my scholars see the good over the bad. I would help them see how much power African Americans have and how brave we are. I would show my scholars why we matter so much today. I would take trips to different historical places and explain why they're important. I would just enjoy speaking about how beautiful my race is and how powerful our people are.
Also, I would teach women's studies. I would teach my scholars how important women are. I also feel like women are underappreciated because we are known for being "weak" because we are women. I would encourage women empowerment. I would also make the class unisex so guys will feel free to join.
