Food and Science: A Perfect Love Story. by Heidi - February 2013 Scholarship Essay

   It seemed impossible that the three of us would meet. In a world of hundreds of majors, the odds were against us. But I believe nothing is coincidence, everything happens for a reason. And so, despite all the odds, we met in the Spring of 2012.    After years of searching, I can honestly say it was worth the wait. For the three years I studied science, I always felt a part of me missing. When I learned about this hidden major my heart leapt with joy at the thought of it. After a short visit with a counselor, I vowed I would always be true to my new major.    What was a quick decision, has been the best decision: science + myself + nutrition.    Sure, there have been hard days, but the good days have been oh, so good.    I often dream of the world that awaits us. As I bring my background in Nutrition Science with me to optometry school, I cannot wait to see how my major will help me to have a unique perspective on treating the eye.    As I continue to perfect my studies with this perfect major of mine, we are grateful for all of the financial support I recieve in these early days of my study.
