Young Dreamer by Heidi - December 2016 Scholarship Essay
Being a student has always been a huge part of my identity. At the age of 16 I began taking college courses on top of my High School classes. Unlike most high schoolers, I gladly took college classes during summer break- taking time off just didn’t make sense to me. I have many proud moments when I look back on my journey through the educational system. I’m proud of my GPA, I’ve always been an honor roll student and hold a 3.7 GPA. I’m proud of my courage to explore, I’ve been to many different colleges, 4 to be exact- just for a change of scenery. I’ve paid my own way through school thus far, working 50+ hours a week, something any student should be proud of.
My proudest moment being a student was when I graduated High School with not only my diploma but also my Associates degree. After graduating I didn’t pause, I kept taking classes at my local community college to fulfill the prerequisites for the nursing program. I’m happy to say that I’ve been accepted into the Nursing program at Everett Community College beginning winter quarter 2017. I’m proud of how much I’ve accomplished at such a young age, I’m one of the youngest students in the program! I’m so thrilled to begin this journey towards becoming a Registered Nurse. Due to the rigorous hours required on campus for the next two years I will be unable to work more than 15 hours a week. I receive food stamps from the state and already have trouble keeping a roof over my head. I’d hate for my financial situation to get in the way of my dream to become a nurse. I appreciate you taking the time to read my submission and I would greatly appreciate any consideration for this scholarship.
Yours respectfully,
