Be You by Hayven - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
A students high school career can be some of the best and worst times in their life. After school activities, homework, relationships and drama can seem endless. Teenagers focus and get caught up in all of these things and lose who they are in the process. Many students will try to pressure others to do things because its "cool" or because it is what they believe is the right way. This being said, my piece of advice to all younger students would be to stay true to who they are and what they believe. I encourage all younger teenagers to focus on what is important like grades, friendships and family. Getting extremely good grades and keeping a high GPA is a major key to success. This allows for amazing opportunities for being accepted into college and being awarded scholarships. At the end of your high school career, when you walk across the stage and receive your diploma, the only people who matter are you and your family. Drama, and most relationships no longer matter. By staying focused on you and not trying to please or impress others, high school can be less complicated and make for a better experience.
If a student has managed to lose ho they are during the transition into high school, i would encourage them to get back on the right track and try to improve themselves gradually each day. Hard work and determination pays off for sure and the accomplishment a student can make can be incredible. High school flies by and graduation comes sooner than anyone can ever prepare for. Graduation symbolized a new beginning, a new change to change who you are. The opportunities are endless and it is you who decides how they play out.
