A Beneficial Organization For Me by Harleigh - December 2019 Scholarship Essay

One of the most beneficial organizations for me is a religious organization. The organization that I am apart of is my church: Yellow Creek Baptist Church. My church has changed my life in many ways such as: guiding me to become a better person, getting me involved with my community, becoming more social, etc.
The first and probably best thing that has been impacted is my mental state. During my freshman and sophomore years, I was depressed and not in a great headspace. My church's youth group helped me become more social and begin to get more involved with my peers. These people helped me realize that I could become the person I truly wanted to be. I grew to be much nicer, more outgoing, happier, etc.
Another way I have been impacted by my church is that I am now way more involved in the community. My church has two main events where we give back to people in need: a food giveaway and a clothing drive. I have volunteered for both of these multiple years in a row. These events have greatly impacted how much I appreciate the community we have. Being involved also helps me feel as if I am doing something important in this area.
Overall, Yellow Creek Baptist Church has changed my life for the better and for that I am extremely grateful. Because of my church, I am a better person, more involved with my community, more social, in a better headspace, etc.
