Everyone is Different by Hannah - January 2015 Scholarship Essay

Having the opportunity to learn should be considered a precious gift. Therefore, having the ability to teach should be an even greater reward. As a senior in high school, I have come to realize that most teachers teach on a broad spectrum which they believe every student will fully comprehend. However, not all students can learn as easily as others through this general program.

I have had countless experiences with teachers who explain a certain topic, yet I personally do not fully understand the concept, and I know I am not alone. If teachers were separated according to their styles of educating, and from then the students could decide which teacher to learn from, I believe the process of education could run more smoothly.

I realize that once students graduate primary school and enter into careers or a college education, that professors or bosses could simply not tolerate this type of learning circumstance and adhere to the desires of the student, but if this type of program was set into elementary education, the students would be able to gain a fundamental education according to their learning capabilities, and therefore be prepared to enter a secondary education.

My advice is for my teachers to have patience with his or her students, and to realize that we are not all one pile of annoying, spoiled, cell-phone-using children who are able to be educated in the same way.
