#eduforall by Hannah - April 2018 Scholarship Essay

For me, education is power. To be able to learn and know things that you once did not, is a powerful tool that a person can obtain. Think about a world without education. How different that world would be. No more school, no more learning, no more medicine, no more doctors, no more lawyers, no more teachers, and biggest of all, no more knowledge. Education is a crucial part of my life, and has been for the past 18 years. Whether that education comes from knowledge that I learn outside of school, or in it, it is a part of who I am, and what I need to succeed in this world. I think that this idea is the same for everyone else in the world. When you learn things that you did not know before, you are expanding much more than just your brain. You are expanding your knowledge of the world, people around you, and your ideas. These advancements are important for a person to grow and become more open to change.
These ideas are why I chose to create, #eduforall. Everyone in this world, no matter their gender, race, residency, age, or background, deserves the right to be educated, in order to become knowledgeable about themselves and the world around them. In my life, education has made me into the knowledgeable young lady I am today. Everything that I have learned over the past 18 years of my life have allowed for me to comfortably and knowledgeably enter the real world. Because of everything I have learned over the years, I can know make educated decisions, votes, and be an informed citizen. Doesn’t everyone deserve knowledge and education so they too can have these opportunities?
