#edupassion by Hannah - April 2018 Scholarship Essay

Education is a passion. It is something that pushes us to challenge ourselves, to get out of our comfort zone, and to be the best students we possibly can be. For me, I attended college because I am passionate about education, constant learning, and bettering myself for my own benefit, as well as the greater good of society. I am dedicated to having the privilege of learning for the rest of my life, and sharing the knowledge I gain with others.
With that said, this hashtag shows that, to me, education is something I am extremely passionate about. Throughout my entire life, whether it be through school, soccer, leadership opportunities or more, I have been influenced by so many amazing people who have taught me everything I know and love. Education doesn’t only encompass the school aspect, but what you can learn from everything outside of school as well. This hashtag reminds me how passionate I am about learning, and educating myself as much as I can. The world is full of amazing information, surprises, and culture, and the best part about it all is that, for me, I will never stop learning about myself, those who surround me, and the world. And, by doing so, I have the great pleasure in sharing my education with others!
I chose this hashtag because of the passion that drives my education. Since I was a little girl, I have always loved learning. Whether it be my Solar Project in 6th grade, my bottle rocket project in 8th grade, or being Senior Class Vice President in high school, I have been passionate about all of it and have always had the desire to learn more and more as I have gotten older. Going into college in 2014, I declared my major as Liberal Studies, wanting to be an elementary school teacher. I was extremely focused on being the best teacher I possibly could be, and thought this was what I wanted to do. Yet, as I went through my first two years at Cal Poly, that dream has changed, and I am now a Communication Studies major. I have realized, through trial and error, and talking with several professors, family members, and friends, that I am happier in my new major, while still being passionate about teaching in some way. My passion for learning and exploring outside my comfort zone was what helped me realize what major I was truly happy in, and where I felt I could make the most impact on others. One of the greatest aspects of this is that, through my current major, I can continue to learn about all different subjects while furthering my education and having the opportunity to hopefully still teach, as I hope to be a high school Spanish teacher one day.
I have learned about all different kinds of subjects, cultures, and people throughout my education in life, and have become very passionate about learning as much as I can. This hashtag reminds me of this passionate, and how important it is to me. My biggest fear is somehow losing this passion, or even forgetting about it, so this simple hashtag is a reminder of how I got to where I am today, why my education is so important to me, and why I am so passionate about learning, education, and life itself.
