The Importance of Learning by Hannah - March 2018 Scholarship Essay

A child who is in the second grade may not be extremely concerned about the importance of their education. A second grader is only about seven or eight years old, which means they still have a couple of years until they can truly begin to grasp the true meaning of an education. Few, if any, eight year olds are concerned with college or the SAT. They are not concerned with them because no one really stresses these topics to young children. Many children know about college and that it would benefit them if they were to go but they do not know all the steps college takes. It is important for young children to be aware of continued learning because it prevents ignorance.
“Continuous learning refers to the ability to continually develop and improve one’s skills and knowledge in order to perform effectively” ("Review of definition for Continuous Learning"). Children should know that the amount of education they recieve should not be limited or restricted. It is similar to when a teacher tells the child to read a chapter of a book a night. The child can go past the amount expected without out it harming them. In fact, the more they read the more it will benefit them. They will be able to learn more about the characters and plot of the book when thet read more than is expected of them. This is the same when people go past the expected amount of education. Many people decide to stop their educatinal lives after they graduate high school, but furthering their education to different levels of college education will not have an impact on their life. A person who continues to expand their knowledge about any topic, is at a greater advantage to those who do not.
