A picture is worth a thousand words by Hannah - September 2017 Scholarship Essay

Printed photographs are becoming a rare novelty, in the light of our technical society. Printed photo books are something of the past, that our parents and grandparents hold dear. Digital media though very convenient, lacks the physical and endearing feel of an actual printed photograph.

I am very thankful for my high school educational path. It was in the start of my sophomore year, I found journalism as my cherished and life changing course. Through journalism, I have been introduced into a spectrum of photography I never knew existed. I have found the beauty of printed photography come to life through the lens of my Cannon Rebel journalism camera. I also have been apart of several different sporting events, clubs, and outside school events that I would have otherwise never experienced without this course. During the summer of 2017, this journalism class I am apart of, attended a Yearbook conference where we began planning and the detailed formation of our coming 2017-2018 class yearbook. Now into my junior year, I am assisting create and edit our schools first elementary year book. I am apart of writing and preserving these precious school memories.

The biggest blessing of this course has been my professor. I have found a life long friend and mentor through this annual journalism class. I have decided to purse my lifelong career in the field of education. I am in hopes I can shadow this fabulous instructor, and one day be loved by my students, as we all dearly love her and our journalism course.
