My Academic Goals for the Following Year by Hanna - August 2022 Scholarship Essay

Some of my academic goals include passing Acting 1, learning American Sign Language, committing more to diligence, being successful, and raising my overall GPA. My goal in life is to be as inclusive and open-minded as I can be. When I finish my undergraduate degree my goal is to become a full-time lawyer. I want to go to law school and pursue that, and in order to do that, I need to raise my GPA in order to even consider going. And as a theatre major my classes are not very homework-heavy, however, they are very hands-on. One thing that I'd really love to do is to give people the confidence that they need to succeed. Give them what they need in order to give that to them, I want to help people grow and mature, and I want to give them the abilities that they need. I have a bad habit of procrastination since most of my classes don't really have a lot of homework, the ones that do tend to get pushed aside. So I'm hoping that this year I'll be able to be much more diligent in my work and be more prepared.
Many people would consider these goals to be small and inconsequential, but to me, they are very important. Raising my GPA will eventually bring me out of my undergrad and into my master's education at a refined law school, passing Acting 1 will give me the ability to show the correct and appropriate emotions, which I can sometimes struggle with. And learning American Sign Language will open up an entire community to me of oppressed people who need help, or just a friendly face that they can talk to. Being diligent will give me confidence in my classes and will help me move throughout the school year knowing that I'm doing the most that I can.
