Being Organized is the most important skill by Hanna - September 2014 Scholarship Essay
The most important skill to have in college is the ability to be extremely organized. College isn’t like high school where they would right your homework on the board and then remind you everyday until it is due that you have homework. Being organized is critical in college. You have to keep a detailed calendar of all homework assignments, essays that may be due, and events that you plan on participating in. If you don’t keep this schedule up then you will in the end forget to do a homework assignment or forget to write an essay and it will hurt your grade more than you think. You are now responsible for your own life and mistakes and the only way to keep those mistakes down to a minimum is to be organized.
Some people might say that having good study skills is the best skill to have in college. But I just want to point out one thing. While having good study habits is definitely one of the most important skills to have it isn’t the most important. Why? How are you going to know if you need to study or not if you aren’t organized? What are you going to study for if you don’t know when any of your homework or test are due? That is why being organized is the most important skill to have for college.
