Compassion Ridgefield by Hanna - December 2016 Scholarship Essay

A school accomplishment that I am most proud of to have received is the Silver Level award for contributing 48 hours of service to the community. I am proud to have received this award because I know that I impacted the lives of others by doing so.
At my local church we participate with a company called compassion 360 that gets local churches or has the community come together to give free services to those who cant afford it. I helped set up all of the clothing in preparation for the big day, we separated and bagged clothes to lay out for the next day. On the day of Compassion Ridgefield I was volunteering in the medical section. I was currently working to achieve my NAC license. I was helping with the podiatry nurses and scribing for them. Which essentially translates to taking notes about each patient and handing out athletes foot cream and pamphlets about how to treat various foot conditions. Everyone that came in was greatly appreciative to our efforts, some have been in so much pain that they haven't remembered the last time that they were free of foot pain. Aspiring to be a nurse this was incredibly humbling to feel the gratitude of doing something seemingly easy.
I am very proud to receive this award not only for the recognition but for the gratitude that was received and the lives that were helped while giving my time and service to an amazing cause.
