Coding My Path: Why I'm Choosing Computer Science and Web Development by Hallie - April 2025 Scholarship Essay
When I attend college I plan to major in computer science first, then digital media for web development. I chose these subjects to major in because I enjoy working with computers, different coding languages, and studying computer science.
In college, I first plan to get my associate in arts degree in computer science. I chose this because I want to learn more about the different concepts in computer science and programming languages. While studying computer science, I am required to take a course on Java. I also look forward to reviewing past concepts, learning new things, and incorporating this programming language into projects I've done in the past. I also have a goal to one day start learning Java again and all of the aspects of it.
After I complete my associate in arts degree, I plan to work towards a bachelor's degree in digital media with: a web specialization. I am eager to start taking some of the classes for this degree. Such as different design concepts, coding languages, marketing strategies, and other exciting courses. This will also allow me to better work with computers as well. Ever since I started doing research for college, I knew I wanted to work towards this bachelor's degree, even before I figured out what I wanted to study for an associate degree. I also chose these majors because I have a personal goal to learn more coding and programming languages for my future career and to improve my coding and computer skills. And majoring in these two subjects will allow me to achieve my goal, learn new things, and improve my skills.
